Thanksgiving Celebration
The 30th Annual Street School “Family” Thanksgiving luncheon was held Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
This year’s luncheon was extra special as Street School unveiled its 21st century learning kitchen classroom with a cake cutting ceremony just prior to the luncheon.
“Celebrity” volunteers who helped serve and wait tables included Mayor of Tulsa Dewey Bartlett, State Senators Jeannie McDaniel and Gary Stanislawski, Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard, KTUL Channel 8’s Kristin Dickerson and News Anchor’s Chera Kimiko and Clay Loney from Fox 23.
Howard Doak, Street School board member and Thanksgiving chair, sincerely thanks the volunteer efforts of board members, both past and present, who are an integral part of the success that Street School has enjoyed. Donors, mentors and volunteers also make this event very special every year by donating the funds and food needed to provide a free meal.
Nearly 400 people attended this year’s Thanksgiving luncheon. This tradition is an example of how Street School is much more than a school – it is family.
